Turtles, clams, oysters, and fish, oh my! Join us for an afternoon of investigating Ipswich River Critters. Discover the fascinating wildlife that calls the Ipswich River home and learn about their habitats and behaviors.
River Critter Wranglers Include:
- Turtle Rescue League: Featuring turtle hatchlings
- Blandings Turtle Head Start Program: Showcasing turtle hatchlings
- Division of Marine Fisheries: Displaying fish like mummichogs, found in the river’s estuary
- Dan Gilbert, Local Clammer: Offering a look at live clams, oysters, and green crabs
This event provides a unique opportunity to observe these creatures up close and learn about how dam removal may affect their ecosystem.
Special Screening:
Following the critter exploration, we will be screening “Our Responsibility: Freeing the Ipswich River,” a documentary highlighting efforts to restore the Ipswich River’s natural flow and ecosystem.
