Shaping Our Water Future

If access to safe and plentiful drinking water is important to you, get informed about how YOUR community is planning for the future and the role that we all play in protecting our local water resources.

Water supplies on the North Shore have been a significant issue, including in the towns of Hamilton and Wenham. This problem is exacerbated by the increasing frequency of droughts, as was evidenced by the late-season extreme drought this past fall. Come hear about the work being done to improve water supply resiliency and ecosystem health for communities that rely on water from the Ipswich River watershed.

We’re honored to welcome Senator Bruce Tarr, Representative Kristen Kassner, Representative Sally Kerans, and IRWA Executive Director Erin Bonney Casey, all key members of the North Shore Water Resiliency Task Force. The North Shore Water Resiliency Task Force recently transitioned from research mode to execution mode. Two new subcommittees, the Lower Basin Subcommittee and the PFAS Subcommittee, will focus on addressing water supply challenges, PFAS compliance costs, and developing practical solutions for the lower basin communities, which include Hamilton and Wenham. Hear how the Task Force is moving towards actionable progress in securing the region’s water future and Hamilton & Wenham’s role in regional water solutions

Presented by LWVHW in partnership with the Ipswich Watershed Association and supported in part by a grant from the Hamilton-Wenham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
