CONNECT TO THE RIVER
Every day we are reminded that the Ipswich River means so much, to so many people, in many different ways. Each person that interacts with the river is seeking something different. A moment of quiet, a chance to bond with their family, a challenge, or simply a new experience. Many people who love the river have even found spots that they think of as their own. We love that! That is why in 2019 we are asking everyone to get out walking, paddling and exploring through our Connect to the River campaign.

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
Connecting to the river can mean exploring the river for the first time, introducing it to someone new, or deepening an already treasured connection. For our part, we’ll be holding events throughout the watershed as well establishing a network of kiosks and landings for the Ipswich River Trail to help even more people connect with the river.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
As part of the campaign, we’ll be introducing the #riverzen hashtag, try using it when posting pictures of walks and paddles. The symbol of the campaign is the ensō. This open circle symbolizes the concept of a zen state of mind, strength, wholeness, and the universe. When you go out to explore the river, make sure to leave your own ensō behind for others to see. We can’t wait to see ensō appearing throughout the watershed. When we see them, we’ll know someone had a great Ipswich River watershed experience.
ENSŌ
Anyone can draw an ensō, or create one out of a variety of materials. We've seen ones made from ferns, draw in the dirt, and frozen into the snow. Remember when making your ensō that they should be temporary. Please do not litter, cause damage to trails or environment, or endanger yourself or others and always respect property, trails and nature. Let your creativity inspire you, and please share, we can’t wait to see what you create!
SHARE WITH US!
Take pictures of the ensō you create and post them on social. Not on social media? Send pictures of your ensō (and any you come across) to our Outreach Manager Rachel. You can see our ensō on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
